Globus Tour - European Highlights

Simon Towner

I recently returned from a 12 day Globus tour that began in Rome, Italy and meandered north through Switzerland and then on to Paris and London. Our tour was fully booked with 43 passengers, most of whom were American, with a few from Hong Kong, Singapore and then my wife and I from Canada. Trip highlights were getting lost in the old streets of Venice and visiting the basilica in St. Marc's Square. Every square inch of the inside of the basilica has been completed by mosaic tiles.
Lucerne Switzerland was also a city that surprised me with it clean and well maintained city centre. There are no beggars or gypsies to be found anywhere. One visit to the Starbucks after spending $7 CAD for a tall coffee tells you why!
The hotels and local guides used by Globus were fantastic. Many of our travelers had limited mobility but were accommodated well by our tour director. This is a coach based tour which I had reservations about. Our driver was amazing and managed to manoeuver our huge bus through the tight streets of Rome. I am 6 '4 and had plenty of legroom in the coach. Considering it was a relatively quick tour, the company ensured that we would be able to get plenty of free time on our own by making many of the excursions optional.

trip to kona

lejlie bred

Kona, is a major tourist destination town on the Big Island of Hawaii. You can get in to the city by several means like car, bus, plane etc. Coffee plantations are the must see things. Sea Hawaii Rafting takes you closer to the Hawaiian coastline and marine life. Yoga Hale provides a calming environment and class structure that novices and yoga experts can enjoy. Kona Surf Adventures provides you a great learning experience of surfing. Snorkeling can be done at a local beach park called Kahaluu. Kahaluu also has a lovely little bar next to it when you're tired of drinking salt water. I am a habitual traveler thus I went to see kona. kona hotel deals are very much attractive, cheap and offer great discount rates. I stayed in one of these hotels. This hotel was too much comfortable to me that is difficult to explain!!! Actually they pampered me a lot. One will always want these types of hotel deals .

Oahu!

Adrienne Peebles

I have recently returned from beautiful Oahu and already want to go back! Air Canada Vacations provided us with a very memorable FAM trip, where I was able to visit many hotels, while getting to know the local culture and spirit!

I stayed at the Outrigger Reef on the Beach and would recommend it to anyone in a heart beat! The hotel is undergoing construction at the moment, (you would barely notice the construction-its almost done) and we were the first to stay in one of the newly completed towers there. The hotel had great service that was very personalized. The friendly staff greeted us at 11PM when we arrived, handing out cold aromatherapy cloths to cool us from our long flight. When checking in, there are comfortable lounge chairs to sit in, no standing at a counter waiting. They made us feel so welcome even at such a late hour of the night!
My other favourite hotels are the Wyland Waikiki and the Ohana Waikiki Beachcomber.

Our first day we were able to do a circle island tour and saw many areas that I would love to go back to and take more time to enjoy the beauty of everything. The highlights were our trip to Pearl Harbor, the Polynesian Culture Centre, and the Dole Plantation.

I would recommend to take a tour while in Oahu, the tour guides are very informative and excited to answer all your questions. The guide who took us through the battleship gave me chills and really had all the answers to our questions.

My favourite part of Oahu is the Polynesian Culture Centre! There is so much to do and see I would recommend leaving 3 days for this! While we were there, we watched a pagent that takes place every day where each island does a local dance and is dressed in costume (while on a raft in the water). You really get a feel of each culture. Most of the people who work there are international students representing their home. The food here was great too!

The international market is a great spot to go shopping for souvenirs, or if you like purses there are many highend shops on the main street. At night the main strip has lots to look at and nothing closes until midnight at the earliest!

There is so much to say about this amazing destination! For more detailed information please email me or call me anytime! I'd love to show you pictures!

Nassau - ACV and Sandals Royal Bahamian

Sarah Brown

I travelled to Nassau with Air Canada Vacations to explore the island and the great properties they have to offer in August 2008. There was a tropical storm on it's way to Florida and we expected to get the tail-end of it as well, but the weather was great! A welcome surprise! A little rain the first of four days, but that's it.
Air Canada check-in, travel and service was nice, no complaints. We were staying at the Sandals Royal Bahamian adults only resort. I had never been to a Sandals before, but I had heard wonderful things from clients and colleagues. I was not disappointed. The service was welcoming and phenominal. I never wanted for anything. The drinks, food, service, beach, rooms, restaurant choices and attentiveness were far beyond what I expected. Sandals also has their own private island, Sandals Quay, a lillte piece of paradise - very romantic! Private loungers, butler service .... what more could you ask for! Sandals was amazing!
While we were in Nassau we had the opportunity to visit some other resorts on the island.
Superclubs Breezes: nice beach, tons of inclusions (really liked the free bicycle rentals), recently updated bathrooms in all rooms. The rooms, besides the bathrooms, along with the hallways and common areas do need to be updated and renovated as well - but that is coming in the next couple of years.
Sheraton Cable Beach: just under-went a $90m renovation and the property is very fresh, clean and modern. There is the option of not all-inclusive for those who want to explore the restaurants on the island. Beautiful pools and beach area. The resort does not exude a caribbeacn feel, it's feels like a Sheraton anywhere in the world, but as soon as you walk out the doors beautiful Nassau welcomes you with open arms!
Greycliff Hotel: Beautiful historical mansion with the original architecture, rooms, pool, everything. It is stunning. You would never know the mansion was from the 1800s. There is a lovely onsire cigarrolling company, with free lessons if you like. We had the opportunity to have dinner with the owner - very interesting man with the 3rd largest wine collection in the world! Excellent chef as well. Not for the budget-minded, but for those who enjoy fine dining, fine wine and a unique experience.
Atlantis: We spend an entire afternoon here enjoying the facilities and exploring the property. From swimming with dolphins to exciting (and scary) waterslides - Atlantis has something for everyone. Great pools, perfect beach, nightlife, dining and family fun in general - Atlantis was new and different from what I am used to from a beach resort. And you can test your luck at the casino!
Comfort Suites: Not all inclusive, right next to the Atlantis. Reasonably priced rooms in Nassau - plus you have free reign on the Atlantis facilities when staying at the Comfort Suites. Great deal - since a day pass to the Atlantis is at least $50usd per person, per day.

Great time in Nassau all in all. That's was my second time visiting the Bahamas and I can't wait to go back!

Air Canada Vacations Barbados Fam

Amber Dupuis

Recently I joined a fam trip with Air Canada Vacations to the beautiful Barbados! It was spectacular. The company was wonderful to travel with and did so much to accomadate our needs. With daily excursions to all the beautiful and historic sites around the island and inspections of almost all the hotels and resorts Barbados had to offer it was a busy but much enjoyed trip which i would certainly do again. If anyone is looking for a holiday with beautiful beaches everywhere you look, amazing food and entertaiment, and the most friendly and accomadating of people, then Barbados should be where you go to next. It will be a sure enjoyment for anyone!!!!
